World War I Strategy
- The battlefields were pretty simplistic. They included trenches, on either side, with "no mans land" in between. This area was filled with landmines, barbed fences, and other obstacles.
- With introduction of airplanes to warfare, their use popularized during the war to help armies with reconnasaince, and aerial boming. These bombing raids involved throwing bombs over the side of the airplane by either the pilot or copilot.
- The German navy began using U-boats, or submarines, to block Allied trade routes. This resulted in thousands of ships sunk during WWI.
- The main strategy during WWI was close quarters, land combat.
